Woman runs red light, faces drunken-driving charge
A Wyomissing police officer saw a vehicle go through a red light, just missing another vehicle, about 1:25 a.m. Feb. 11 at Penn Avenue and Park Road North in the borough. The driver appeared drunk, and a breath test confirmed the officer's suspicion: It showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.15, nearly twice the 0.08 legal threshold for drunken driving. Police arrested her and took her to the DUI center for a blood test.

Bad driving gives away drunken driver in West Reading
A West Reading police officer spotted a vehicle traveling erratically about 2:05 a.m. Jan. 26 on South Second Avenue in West Reading. After the vehicle pulled over, the driver reeked of alcohol and seemed drunk. She was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for a blood-alcohol test and the car was towed. Police expect to file charges of drunken driving after receiving results of the blood test.

Suspicious vehicle leads to drunken-driving arrest in West Reading
A West Reading police officer stopped a vehicle that looked suspicious about 2:13 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 200 block of Tulpehocken Avenue in the borough. Police appeared to be right in their suspicions: Everyone in the vehicle, including the driver, was drunk. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and the vehicle was towed.

Seven arrested on drunken-driving charges in Wyomissing
Wyomissing police conducted a DUI checkpoint the night of Sept. 2 at Penn Avenue and Park Road. The detail resulted in seven arrests for drunken driving, charges against two people for drug possession and three citations for traffic violations. One of the drunken-driving suspects was also wanted for an earlier hit-and-run in Reading.

West Lawn man charged with drunken driving in Wyomisisng
Wyomissing police pulled over a car about 2:22 a.m. July 30 at Hobart Avenue and State Hill Road in the borough that had no headlights on. The driver appeared to be drunk so officers took him to the DUI Center. The suspect, a 23-year-old West Lawn man, was charged Aug. 1 with driving without headlights, ignoring traffic signals, and two counts of drunken driving, including one count of having a blood-alcohol content above 0.16, more than double the state's legal threshold for drunken driving of 0.08.

Man faces drunken-driving charges after hit-and-run
A driver hit two parked cars and drove off about 10:10 p.m. June 23 in Wyomissing. The suspect might have gotten away with it, if not for a witness who saw him pull into a garage of a home in the 1400 block of Garfield Avenue. Police arrived and found the man had been drinking. The suspect, a 59-year-old Wyomissing man, was arrested and charged with drunken driving, careless driving and causing an accident involving damage to property.

Drunken-driving suspect arrested in Wyomissing
A driver ignored a red light about 2:21 a.m. June 18 at the intersection of Spring Street and State Hill Road in Wyomissing. Police stopped the vehicle and gave the driver several field sobriety tests, all of which he failed. A breath test showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.15, nearly twice the legal threshold for drunken driving in Pennsylvania. He was arrested and taken to the DUI center. Police charged the suspect, a 30-year-old Blandon man, with drunken driving and a traffic violation.

Man in parked car charged with driving under the influence
West Reading police found a man sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked illegally about 2:30 a.m. April 30 near the intersection of South Fourth Avenue and Cherry Street in the borough. The driver – or parker, as the case may be – was under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, officers concluded. They arrested him and charged him with disorderly conduct, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. The 26-year-old suspect was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Suspect in traffic stop faces drunken-driving charges
West Reading police stopped a vehicle for speeding about 9:28 p.m. Feb. 11 in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in the borough. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and given a blood test. Charges will be filed based on the results.

West Reading police stopped a vehicle about 1 a.m. Nov. 25 at Fifth and Penn avenues in the borough. The officer concluded the driver had been drinking and took the man to St. Joseph's hospital for a blood test. The man faces a drunken-driving charge pending the results of the blood test.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrests in West Reading
Three people were arrested about 12:10 a.m. Oct. 30 in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading after a traffic stop. Police pulled the vehicle over because of an expired registration sticker. The officer noticed the driver's eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and pot was visible inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and the two passengers were arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession.

Erratic driving leads to DUI arrest
Wyomissing police spotted a vehicle swerving in traffic about 9:49 p.m. Sept. 19 on Penn Avenue in the borough. Officers stopped the car and arrested the driver, a 22-year-old West Lawn man. He was charged the next day with two counts of drunken driving and one count each of following too close and failing to stay in his lane.

Driver in accident suspected of drunken driving
At least one person was hospitalized following a crash about 2:21 p.m. Sept. 13 at the intersection of State Hill Road and Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. The driver of a vehicle that rear-ended another appeared drunk and complained of chest pain. An ambulance took the victim to the hospital for treatment and to check for blood-alcohol content.

Man arrested after police say he hit Wyomissing building with vehicle
A driver drove into a building twice about 6:05 p.m. July 27 in the 1100 block of Woodland Road in Wyomissing, then drove away. Police spotted the vehicle, which presumably had body damage, and arrested the driver. They discovered he was drunken and charged him with driving with a suspended license, drunken driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, hit and run and causing an accident. The suspect, a 28-year-old Akron, Pa., man, was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Wyomissing man faces drunken-driving charges after stop in West Reading
Police from Wyomissing and West Reading stopped a Ford Expedition about 12:13 a.m. May 31 in the 600 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading because it was traveling without headlights on. Police determined the driver had been drinking but he refused a blood test. Police arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving. The suspect, a 32-year-od Wyomissing resident, was also charged with driving without headlights.

Pair arrested following traffic stop in Wyomissing
A 26-year-old Laureldale woman faces charges after a traffic stop about 3:23 a.m. May 15 in the 1200 block of Penn Avenue in Wyomisssing. Police stopped the vehicle for having an expired inspection sticker and noticed the driver smelled strongly of alcohol. She refused to take a sobriety test and was arrested. The passenger, meanwhile, was wanted on several outstanding warrants and also arrested. The driver was charged with two counts of drunken driving and one count each of driving with a suspended license and having an expired inspection.

Driver in single-vehicle crash was drunk, police say
Three people were injured when the vehicle they were riding in about 12:15 a.m. May 13 crashed head-on into a tree near Museum Road and South Fifth Avenue in West Reading. Police arrived to find several people lying on the ground outside the vehicle. The driver, who was younger than 21, was drunk, police said. The three people injured were passengers in the vehicle. Police did not indicate if the driver suffered injuries.

Driver in crash faces drunken-driving charges
A driver in a single-vehicle crash about 8:56 p.m. May 1 on Route 422 West now faces drunken driving charges. West Reading police found the vehicle near the Penn Avenue exit and determined the driver was under the influence. The suspect, a 48-year-old Reading woman, was charged May 8 with two counts of drunken driving and one count of careless driving.

Drunken-driving suspect also charged with endangering child
A 51-year-old Reading man who Wyomissing police said drove drunk April 23 on Route 422 in the borough was charged April 28 with child endangerment. Police stopped him for driving erratically on the Warren Street Bypass. After the stop they discovered he had a 5-year-old with him. The man’s wife picked up the child after his arrest. He was also charged with two counts of drunken-driving and one count each of following too closely and failure to stay in his lane.

Reckless driver arrested for drunken driving
A Wyomissing police officer received a call about 7:06 p.m. April 23 about a reckless driver that witnesses said was “all over the road.” A few minutes later the officer spotted the vehicle on the Warren Street Bypass driving, as described, all over the road. The driver was arrested for suspected drunken driving and his wife came to pick up the car’s passenger, a 5-year-old.
