Prowler enters Wyomissing home, argues with resident
A man woke up sometime between 1:15 an 1:30 a.m. March 6 after hearing someone trying to enter the back door of his home in the 1700 block of Palmer Avenue in Wyomissing. He confronted the would-be burglar, a man in his 20s sporting a "box-type hairstyle," according to police. The intruder argued with the resident, then walked away, returning a few minutes later to argue some more. He then left for good. Later that day, about 5:26 p.m., the victim called police to report the incident.

Burglary suspect caught with tools of the trade
A man walking through a Wyomissing neighborhood about 12:49 a.m. Oct. 29 caught the attention of borough police. It may have been the eight filed-down keys, center punch, screwdriver and set of 26 different car keys. Police stopped the suspect in the 1400 block of Delaware Avenue. After a background check unveiled multiple convictions for theft, burglary and auto-related theft charges, they arrested the suspect, a 46-year-old Reading man, and charged him with possessing instruments of crime and prowling at night. He was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Attempted break-in reported at Wyomissing barber shop
Sometime about midnight Aug. 31, a resident of the 900 block of Penn Avenue in Wyomissing heard a loud noise and saw a vehicle driving through the alley behind a barber shop on the same block. She called police about 7:24 when she saw someone had tried to break the glass door of the business. Police said whoever broke the glass never made it into the shop.

Vehicle window smashed in apparent burglary attempt
Sometime between the night of Jan. 25 and the morning of Jan. 26, someone smashed the driver's side window of a vehicle parked in the first block of Darlin Drive in Wyomissing. The vehicle's owner told borough police it didn't look as though anything was stolen.

Burglary attempt discovered in West Reading
A resident called police about 8:28 a.m. Feb. 1 to report a possible burglary at a building in the 200 block of Reading Avenue in West Reading. The rear door had been damaged but it didn’t look like anything had been taken -- or that anyone had actually gone inside.

Attempted break-in reported at Avanti Salon in West Reading
An alarm went off about 6:57 p.m. Jan. 30 at Avanti Salon, in the first block of South Sixth Avenue in West Reading. When police arrived, the building looked secure but a side door was ajar and looked as though it had been forced open.

Woman stops burglary try in Wyomissing
A Wyomissing resident was home about 1:44 a.m. Jan. 10 in the 100 block of Gail Circle when she heard the back door rattling. She checked it out and found a man who was trying to break in. He ran off and officers from Wyomissing, Spring Township, West Reading and Pennsylvania State Police searched for the suspect, who had sprinted down Gail Circle. Police described him as a thin white man in his late teens or early 20s, between 5 feet-10 inches and 6 feet tall, wearing a dark, puffy coat and a red or orange knit hat.

Wyomissing police search for attempted burglary suspect
A perimeter alarm went off about 1:40 a.m. Jan. 9 in the first block of Timberline Drive in Wyomissing. The owner found tracks in the snow that weren’t there before. A police search of the area that also involved the use of a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter turned up nothing.
