Two arrested after late-night fight at restaurant

A fight broke out about 2:24 a.m. April 7 at a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading. Wyomissing police arrived at the hubbub to assist officers from the borough. West Reading police arrested two people for the disturbance: a 23-year-old Reading woman and a 22-year-old Reading man. Police charged them with disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and public drunkenness. The two suspects were jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail each.

Man pees on ATM, gets cited by West Reading police officer

A West Reading police officer spotted a man about 2:12 a.m. March 18, urinating on the side of an ATM in the 500 block of Penn Avenue. The officer stopped the man and cited him for disorderly conduct. It's not known if the suspect had an account at the bank to which the ATM belonged.

Man cited for disorderly conduct after making threats in West Reading

A man was in the emergency room at Reading Hospital about 8:20 p.m. March 19 in West Reading when he threatened a nurse on duty. The nurse called police. The man gave police a fake name, but they learned his identity anyway.

Officers cited him for disorderly conduct and took him from the hospital.

Woman jailed after refusing to leave West Reading hotel

Employees at a hotel called police after a woman there refused to leave after they asked, about 1:36 a.m. Feb. 25. She insisted on remaining at the business in the first block of South Third Avenue in West Reading. The woman eventually left -- in police custody. Officers arrested her on charges of creating a false alarm, disorderly conduct and harassment.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Reading-area woman, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Fight breaks out at restaurant in West Reading

West Reading police had to disperse two disputes that started within a half-hour in the early morning of Feb. 4 at a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue. About 2:30 a.m., officers were called to when a crowd gathered around a brawl among four or five women. Officers from other departments, including Wyomissing, responded to the melee. Police broke up the fight and plan to file charges against people they can identify in security video of the fight.

Police prevented a second possible fight about 3:01 a.m. when several men began arguing loudly inside the restaurant. Before things got ugly, officers escorted the men out of the restaurant.

Friends get each other in trouble with West Reading police

A man called West Reading police after an argument he had about 5 p.m. Jan. 17 in the 100 block of Tulpehocken Avenue, over his friend's driving habits. He wanted his friend cited for reckless driving. The driver, meanwhile, told officers that his friend punched him. Police continue to investigate.

Woman tries to visit dog, gets turned away by police

West Reading police were called to a home about 4:18 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 700 block of Wayne Avenue in the borough after a woman came to the home of her ex-husband to visit the dog. She admitted to police she didn't live there anymore. Officers told her to leave and gave her a warning for disorderly conduct.

Two arrested following New Year's Day fight at restaurant

A man got upset when he saw another man flirting with his girlfriend about 2:26 a.m. Jan. 1 at a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in Wyomissing. Soon a fight broke out and, soon after that, police from West Reading and Wyomissing arrived to break it up. Police arrested one suspect, a 25-year-old Temple man, charging him with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail. A woman was also arrested, for failing to disperse and disorderly conduct. The 21-year-old Wernersville woman was also jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Word of God, spoken at high volume

A woman told police she wanted to spread the "word of God," so at about 2:36 p.m. Sept. 30 she stood at the corner of South Third and Penn avenues, yelling at cars and waving her arms. Police asked her to leave, and she complied.

Mall security guards confront teens who jump in fountain

The Berkshire Mall fountain gained notoriety earlier this year after a Reading woman fell into it while texting. On July 16, a pair of teenage boys from New Mexico decided to go for a dip. They were detained afterward by mall security guards, who called Wyomissing police. The police didn't get involved and mall security handled the incident.

West Reading man jailed following fight

A man in a group home in West Reading threatened some of the staff members there in the evening of May 9. Borough police arrested the man at the facility in the 400 block of Reading Avenue and charged him with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. District Judge Timothy Dougherty dropped the assault charge against the suspect, a 61-year-old borough resident, during his hearing May 26. The disorderly conduct and harassment charges were held for court. The suspect was jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Arguing couple fight over drugs

Someone called police after seeing a couple fight about 3:39 p.m. in the 1100 block of Woodland Road in Wyomissing. When police arrived, the man was gone and the woman said the fight never got physical. The couple were arguing because the boyfriend wanted to buy some drugs. (Presumably the woman opposed this idea; hence the fight.)

Police found the boyfriend, who had run off toward the Berkshire Mall. He didn't have any drugs on him or in his vehicle, but police destroyed a piece of drug paraphernalia they found. Officers warned the two about their behavior.

Fight outside nightclub leads to brief arrest

Bouncers escorted a man out of a club about 1:59 a.m. April 23 in the 1100 block of Bern Road in Wyomissing while police were there. The man continued to act disorderly. But when he charged the bouncers, fists flying, police arrested him. Officers found he had no record and no warrants, so they cited him and released him.

Easter Bunny actor punched in Berkshire Mall

A woman was getting ready to play the Easter Bunny about 5:32 p.m. April 23 at a photo kiosk in the Berkshire Mall when she got into an argument with another woman. The dispute ended when the latter punched the actor, but the assailant left before police arrived. The victim identified her attacker, whom police said they will cite for disorderly conduct.

Woman cited for disorderly conduct over a suitcase

A woman's suitcase set off a door sensor about 7:07 p.m. March 18 at a store in the 1000 block of Woodland Road in Wyomissing. This set her off, and she started screaming obscenities and accusing the store of monitoring her activities. Police stopped her in the parking lot and cited her for disorderly conduct. She is no longer allowed in the store.

West Reading man charged following domestic dispute

A man got into a loud argument the night of March 10 in a home in the 200 block of Chestnut Street in West Reading, but left the home after police were called about 11:18 p.m. Officers found the 34-year-old suspect a block away and charged him with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was jailed in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Disorderly man arrested at Reading Hospital

A man raising a ruckus about 12:43 a.m. Feb. 19 at Reading Hospital, at South Sixth Avenue and Spruce Street in West Reading, drew the attention of borough police. The suspect, a 20-year-old man, was charged wth disorderly conduct, defiant trespass and driving with a suspended license. He was jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail.

Facebook post leads to fight between students at Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School

A student at Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School became upset with another over a posting on Facebook. The teacher told the disorderly girl to leave, who instead tried to fight the other student. She also threw a container of scissors at her rival, hitting both the intended target and the teacher, who tried to step in the middle to stop the fight – and who, presumably, was not an intended target.

Unruly behavior in West Reading restaurant leads to criminal charges, citations

A 21-year-old Reading man was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct Feb. 14 after someone called police to complain about a disruption at a restaurant about 4:22 a.m. Feb. 13 in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading.

Earlier that morning, two men were cited for disorderly conduct, for urinating in the parking lot of the same restaurant.

Man charged with disorderly conduct at West Reading restaurant

Two men raised a ruckus about 2:54 a.m. Jan. 29 in the rear of a restaurant, in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading. Police arrested both of them but as of today only one of the suspects, a 22-year-old Reading man, has been charged criminally. He faces one count each of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
