Driver faces drug charges after traffic stop in West Reading
West Reading police stopped a vehicle for speeding about 8:52 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 200 block of Penn Avenue. A lead foot was the least of the driver's problems; officers discovered an outstanding warrant and marijuana. The driver was arrested on the warrant and faces a charge of drug possession.

Man talks to pole, gets arrested for drug possession
Someone called police about 10:34 p.m. Nov. 26 to report a man staggering around the 400 block of Franklin Street in West Reading, reportedly also talking to a pole. Police found the man, who was carrying a suitcase and had some heroin on him. He was arrested on suspicion of drug possession

Police find man on basketball court with drugs in West Reading
A West Reading police officer spotted two men in the basketball court at a borough park after closing time, about 7:33 p.m. Oct. 20. One of them had an open warrant and, the officer discovered, also had drugs on him. He was arrested and will be charged with drug possession. The second man was cited for trespassing.

Pair face drug charges following arrest in Wyomissing
A Wyomissing police officer followed a suspicious vehicle about 9:41 p.m. April 30 as it left a fast-food restaurant’s parking lot and stopped it in the 600 block of Park Road North. The officer spotted drug paraphernalia and the people in the car said they drove from Bloomsburg, Pa., to Reading to buy heroin. In addition to the drug paraphernalia, police found small amounts of heroin and marijuana and $720 in cash. The suspects, a 29-year-old Bloomsburg woman and a 33-year-old Ashland, Pa., man, were both charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. The man was also charged with two counts of drug possession.

Pair charged with drug possession
Two women face drug charges after a Wyomissing police officer spotted them drinking in a car parked about 9:18 p.m. April 23 in the 1100 block of Woodland Road. The officer saw marijuana in the vehicle, as well. The suspects, both 18 and from Douglassville, were not charged with underage drinking. They were, however, charged with possession of a small amount of pot.

Woman faces drug charges following traffic stop
West Reading police stopped a car about 2:48 a.m. Nov. 23 on an on-ramp to the West Shore Bypass in the borough when they discovered the driver had open warrants. The officers also found a small amount of marijuana and in the vehicle.

Wyomissing teen faces drug charges
An 18-year-old Wyomissing resident was charged Nov. 19 with one count each of marijuana possession and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from a traffic stop at 1:35 a.m. Nov. 1 at the intersection of Penn and Trent avenues. Police stopped the car for driving without headlights and the officer reported an “overwhelming smell of marijuana” in the car.

Fugitive arrested in West Reading
A woman who was wanted on a parole violation was arrested Oct. 13 in the 400 block of Spruce Street in West Reading, according to a detective from the Berks County District Attorney’s office. Sheriff’s deputies went there to arrest the suspect, a 37-year-old Strausstown, Pa., woman. In the course of arresting her detectives found a small amount of marijuana as well as a small amount of crack and a crack pipe on her. She was charged with drug possession, pot possession and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

21-year-old man could face trial on drug charges
A 21-year-old man with no known address waived his preliminary hearing Sept. 28 on charges stemming from an arrest in Wyomissing about 1:12 a.m. Sept. 6 at the corner of Penn Avenue and Park Road North. Borough police believed him to be under the influence of something; after a search officers found several bags of marijuana on the man. He was charged with pot possession and public drunkenness and similar misconduct. Both charges were held for court. The suspect was jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail.

State police arrest West Reading man on drug charges
West Reading police helped Pennsylvania State Police serve a search warrant about 9:40 a.m. Sept. 18 in the 400 block of Franklin Street in the borough. State police arrested a 28-year-old West Reading man and charged him with two counts of drug possession and one count of possession with intent to deliver. He was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Drugs found in car after traffic stop in Wyomissing
Police stopped a car at 7:56 p.m. Sept. 16 at the intersection of State Hill and Woodland roads in Wyomissing for an unspecified moving violation. The officer found marijuana in the car and arrested the driver. The suspect, a 23-year-old Reading man, was charged with pot possession and jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Police find drugs in vehicle after traffic stop
Wyomissing police stopped a vehicle about 12:21 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 1000 block of Thrush Road in the borough. The driver was driving without headlights. When officers stopped the car they found the driver had marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police arrest assault suspect
At about11:15 p.m. Sept. 10, West Reading police went to the 400 block of Court Street, where a man was beating his girlfriend. She was taken to the hospital for an examination. Officers arrested the suspect, a 22-year-old Mohnton man, who was charged with simple assault, public drunkenness, drug possession, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Woman faces drunken-driving charges after arrest in West Reading
West Reading police officers found a vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant about10:26 p.m. Sept. 8 in the 300 block of Sycamore Road in the borough. They found a woman passed out inside the vehicle. The suspect, a 43-year-old Leesport woman, was arrested and charged with drunken driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Theft suspect caught in parking lot in Wyomissing
Wyomissing police spotted a suspicious vehicle about 2;30 a.m. Sept. 7 in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in the borough. The officer found a man apparently “under the influence of compressed gasses,” according to the police report. About 22 empty gas canisters were scattered on the floor of the vehicle. The man was wanted on a retail theft charge and handed over to Berks County Sheriff’s deputies.

Drunk man in Wyomissing also caught with pot
A Wyomissing police officer spotted an apparently inebriated young man at 1:12 a.m. Sept. 6 near the intersection of Penn Avenue and Park Road North in the borough. When the officer stopped him, the man also apparently had bags of what police believed was marijuana. The 21-year-old suspect was charged with drug possession and public drunkenness and jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail.
