Two arrested after late-night fight at restaurant
A fight broke out about 2:24 a.m. April 7 at a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading. Wyomissing police arrived at the hubbub to assist officers from the borough. West Reading police arrested two people for the disturbance: a 23-year-old Reading woman and a 22-year-old Reading man. Police charged them with disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and public drunkenness. The two suspects were jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail each.

Fight breaks out at restaurant in West Reading
West Reading police had to disperse two disputes that started within a half-hour in the early morning of Feb. 4 at a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue. About 2:30 a.m., officers were called to when a crowd gathered around a brawl among four or five women. Officers from other departments, including Wyomissing, responded to the melee. Police broke up the fight and plan to file charges against people they can identify in security video of the fight.
Police prevented a second possible fight about 3:01 a.m. when several men began arguing loudly inside the restaurant. Before things got ugly, officers escorted the men out of the restaurant.

Wyomissing student faces assault charges after fight
Two students at Wyomissing Junior/Senior High School fought Jan. 30 in the school in the 600 block of Evans Avenue. The brawl ended when one stabbed the other twice with a pen, puncturing the skin both times. Wyomissing police plan to charge the student with assault.

Woman arrested in West Reading fight waives preliminary hearing
A 21-year-old Wernersville woman who was arrested on New Year's Day following a fight in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading waived her preliminary hearing Jan. 23. She was charged with failing to disperse and disorderly conduct. She faces a formal arraignment next. Meanwhile, she remains in jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
The man charged in the fight, a 25-year-old Temple resident, has a hearing set for February. He was released Jan. 9 after posting $5,000 bail.

Two men cited for fighting at West Reading bar
Two men got into a fight about 9:28 p.m. Jan. 4 at a bar in the 100 block of South Third Avenue in West Reading. A bouncer tried to break it up but it took borough police to end the fight. Both men were identified and released.

Two arrested following New Year's Day fight at restaurant
A man got upset when he saw another man flirting with his girlfriend about 2:26 a.m. Jan. 1 at a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in Wyomissing. Soon a fight broke out and, soon after that, police from West Reading and Wyomissing arrived to break it up. Police arrested one suspect, a 25-year-old Temple man, charging him with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail. A woman was also arrested, for failing to disperse and disorderly conduct. The 21-year-old Wernersville woman was also jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Woman arrested following fight in West Reading
In the afternoon of Nov. 20, a man called West Reading police to report a group of people fighting in the 600 block of Franklin Street. Officers from the borough and from Wyomissing responded to the fight. Police arrested one woman, a 31-year-old West Reading resident, and charged her with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. She was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Police charge man with assault in hospital
A man became violent about 12:24 p.m. Nov 19 in a room at Reading Hospital in West Reading, punching staff members a room in the emergency department. He was placed in restraints, but not before punching a security guard. Police arrested the suspect, a 31-year-old Reading man, and charged him with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Fight at Wyomissing restaurant leads to assault charge
Wyomissing police received a call of two women fighting inside a restaurant about 5:01 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 1200 block of Penn Avenue. When they arrived, though, the victim — who had been knocked unconscious — was a man. So was the suspect they arrested, although a woman was cited for disorderly conduct. The suspect, a 32-year-old Reading man, was charged with fighting and simple assault and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Fight leads to arrest in West Reading
About 25 people go involved in a fight about 11:56 p.m. June 24 in the 200 block of South Fourth Avenue in West Reading. Police arrested at least one man on a scofflaw warrant but it wasn't clear if anyone else was arrested or charged that night.

West Reading man jailed following fight
A man in a group home in West Reading threatened some of the staff members there in the evening of May 9. Borough police arrested the man at the facility in the 400 block of Reading Avenue and charged him with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. District Judge Timothy Dougherty dropped the assault charge against the suspect, a 61-year-old borough resident, during his hearing May 26. The disorderly conduct and harassment charges were held for court. The suspect was jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Fight outside nightclub leads to brief arrest
Bouncers escorted a man out of a club about 1:59 a.m. April 23 in the 1100 block of Bern Road in Wyomissing while police were there. The man continued to act disorderly. But when he charged the bouncers, fists flying, police arrested him. Officers found he had no record and no warrants, so they cited him and released him.

Fight outside nightclub leads to charges for four people
Wyomissing police charged four people with rioting following a fight about 1:54 a.m. March 27 in a parking lot in the 200 block of Park Road North in the borough. Security guards at a nightclub had escorted the group outside, but the suspects then started pushing and shoving the guards. It escalated to a fight that eventually included police officers who went to the business. Four people were arrested in the fracas.
Two of the suspects, a 34-year-old Reading man and a 27-year-old West Reading woman, waived their preliminary hearings April 11. Felony charges of rioting were withdrawn for each of them, but they each still face charges of resisting arrest, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and harassment. The woman also faces an additional charge of concealing evidence. Bail for each of them was set at $10,000.

Shillington man charged in bar fight in West Reading
A fight broke out about 1:33 March 6 in a bar in the 100 block of South Third Avenue in West Reading. Police took all those involved into custody. One man, a 41-year-old Shillington resident, was charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was jailed in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Assault suspects face possible trial in West Reading beating
A Shillington man waived his preliminary hearing March 10 on charges stemming from a Feb. 12 assault in a parking lot in West Reading. A second suspect in the case also had a hearing March 10, where all charges against him were held for court.
West Reading and Wyomissing police responded to a fight about 5 in the morning on Feb. 12 in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 400 block of Penn Avenue. While they had been told it was "nothing, just an argument," officers found a man lying unconscious in the back of the parking lot, with injuries to his face and hands. He was taken to Reading Hospital.
One of the suspects, a 23-year-old Shillington resident, told police he was with the victim, the other suspect and two women at a club in Reading, where they had been drinking. On the way to the restaurant an argument ensued. The women went inside the restaurant while the men continued to argue. The Shillington man said he tried to stop a fight between the victim in and the second suspect, a 23-year-old Reading resident. But after further questioning he admitted that he was the one who threw the first punch, and both he and the Reading man kept punching and kicking the victim after he fell to the ground.
The two suspects each were charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, receiving stolen property and robbery. They're both accused of also taking $250 in cash from the victim. They were jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail each.

The suspect waived his Feb. 3 preliminary hearing on charges of simple assault (two counts), disorderly conduct and harassment. He was released Jan. 24 on $5,000 bail.

Wyomissing man faces assault charge following fight
A fight that took place about 11:31 p.m. Jan. 3 in the first block of Evans Avenue in Wyomissing attracted the attention of borough police. In the course of the fight a man had punched the victim in the face, causing injuries. The victim was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. The suspect, a 19-year-old Wyomissing man, was charged with two counts of simple assault and one count each of disorderly conduct and harassment.

Man faces charges after fight at Wyomissing bar
Security guards at a Wyomissing bar had to restrain a man who tried to hit two of them about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 1. After police arrived at the bar in the 1100 block of Bern Road the man refused to give his ID, although he did give them several dates of birth. He was arrested and taken to Reading Hospital in West Reading because of his drunken state. While there, he tried to fight with police and hospital staff.
The suspect, a 21-year-old Yardley, Pa., man, was charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, harassment and providing false ID. He was released on $5,000 bail.

Woman faces assault charges following fight in West Reading restaurant
A fight broke out in the women's restroom of the West Reading Diner about 3:59 a.m. Oct. 17. Police from both West Reading and Wyomissing responded to the call. When police got there, a woman pushed one officer and spat on another. She was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and once count each of simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, harassment and public drunkenness. The suspect, a 22-year-old Reading woman, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Three women charged after fight at West Reading Diner
A fight broke out about 2:30 a.m. June 5 at the West Reading Diner, in the 400 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading, among three women. Police charged each of the suspects -- a 22-year-old, a 33-year-old and a 24-year-old, all from Reading and all with the same last name -- with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. The 22-year-old was also charged with resisting arrest. The 33-year-old was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail and the others were jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail each.
