A 42-year-old Reading man who Wyomissing police say sent 22 threatening or harassing text messages in the space of an hour faces a possible jury trial on charges of stalking and criminal mischief. He was initially arrested Oct. 4 after the victim called borough police.
District Justice Timothy Dougherty held two charges of stalking and one charge of criminal mischief for court at the man's preliminary hearing on Nov. 8. The suspect remains in jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Wyomissing police arrest Reading man on harassment charges
A Wyomissing resident called borough police about 6 p.m. Oct. 4 after receiving 22 harassing and threatening text messages in the course of one hour the night before. Police arrested a 42-year-old Reading man and charged him with two counts of stalking and one count of criminal mischief. He was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 8.

Stalking suspect waives preliminary hearing
A woman who police accused of making unwanted visits to her ex-boyfriend's West Reading home waived her preliminary hearing on Aug. 24 and now faces trial. The victim and his current girlfriend told police in July the suspect, a 33-year-old Wyomissing resident who was 32 at the time of her arrest, had been harassing them with dozens of unwanted e-mails. Police warned her to stay away and arrested her outside the victim's home.
She faces charges of loitering and prowling at night, stalking and two counts of harassment.

Wyomissing woman accused of stalking man in West Reading
A West Reading man and his girlfriend told police July 17 they had been getting dozens of unwanted e-mails from his ex-girlfriend. Police told the ex to leave the man and his new girlfriend alone.
Two days later, officers were called to the 300 block of Sunset Road and found the ex-girlfriend at the victim’s home. The man told police she had walked by their house three times, rang the doorbell and left messages on the victim’s answering machine. An officer arrested the ex-girlfriend, who said she only went there to apologize. The suspect, a 32-year-old Wyomissing woman, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail. She faces charges of stalking, harassment and loitering and prowling at night.
