Reading man faces theft charges
Wyomissing police charged a 39-year-old Reading man on Nov. 12 with retail theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property. The charges stem from an investigation into a theft that took place Oct. 27 at the Wal-Mart store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing.

Man arrested after weapons found in vehicle
A West Reading police officer stopped a vehicle about 2:21 a.m. Nov. 6 on an on-ramp to the Penn Street Bridge in West Reading. The officer found weapons in the vehicle that were believed to have been stolen. He arrested one man, a 30-year-old Elizabeth, N.J., man, who was then charged with receiving stolen property, illegal possession of firearms, carrying firearms without a license, along with two traffic violations. The man was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Bike stolen from garage
A man returned from vacation about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 7 to his home in the first block of Wyomissing Boulevard in Wyomissing to discover that the side door to his garage was open and his $500 Trek bicycle was gone.

Reading woman accused of shoplifting from outlet stores
Wyomissing police received a report at 3:06 p.m. Sept. 4 of a woman who had taken $125 in merchandise from the stores at VF Outlet in the 800 block of Hill Avenue in the borough. The suspect, a 42-year-old Reading woman who has a prior conviction for retail theft, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail and charged with one count each of retail theft and receiving stolen property.

Thief steals bicycle from Wyomissing garage
A man called Wyomissing police at 10:03 p.m. Sept. 6 to report that someone had gone into the garage of his house in the 200 block of Reading Boulevard and ridden off with a bike. A West Reading police officer spotted the suspect at about 10:10 p.m. in the 600 block of Penn Avenue in the borough. The suspect, a 43-year-old man with no known address, was arrested and charged with burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief, prowling at night, theft and receiving stolen property. He was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Bike stolen from Wyomissing Pool
A Wyomissing resident went to the borough pool in the afternoon of Aug. 15. While he was there his mountain bike, a silver Trex with black lettering and front shocks, was stolen from the bike rack. It had not been locked.

Employee faces theft charges
Security personnel at a store in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard called in Wyomissing called borough police July 21 about an employee suspected of stealing $896 over a four-month period. The suspect, a 46-year-old Stevens, Pa., woman, was arrested and charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

Theft suspect flees Wyomissing store
Wyomissing police received a call shortly after noon July 20 about a shoplifting suspect caught by store security in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard. The man had stolen $119 worth of merchandise from the store. He ran away but police caught him a short time later on Woodland Road. The suspect, a 35-year-old Reading man, was charged with retail theft and defiant trespass and jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Pair arrested in theft of DVDs
Two people stole $608.90 worth of DVDs in the afternoon of July 14 from the Wal-Mart in the 1100 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. Police stopped the suspects a short distance away and arrested them. A 40-year-old Reading man and a 20-year-old Reading woman were charged with retail theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property and each was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Two charged in West Reading burglary
Police received a report of a burglary the afternoon of June 5 in the 500 block of Reading Avenue. An 18-year-old Reading man and a 20-year-old West Reading man were later arrested and each charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy to receive stolen property, according to court records. The 18-year-old suspect was released on 5 percent of $10,000 bail, while the older suspect was jailed June 9 in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Traffic stop leads to arrest in Wyomissing
Wyomissing police on the evening of June 9 stopped a car at the corner of Penn and Forest avenues in the borough. The car had a stolen tag and the driver, who police said was on parole, had no valid license or insurance policy. The passenger was also found to have two outstanding warrants. The driver faces charges of receiving stolen property and driving without a license, among other charges.
