Man cited for disorderly conduct after making threats in West Reading

A man was in the emergency room at Reading Hospital about 8:20 p.m. March 19 in West Reading when he threatened a nurse on duty. The nurse called police. The man gave police a fake name, but they learned his identity anyway.

Officers cited him for disorderly conduct and took him from the hospital.

Theft suspect faces charges of threatening his wife

Store security stopped a man on suspicion of shoplifting about 3:28 p.m May 11 in a store in the 500 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading. When borough police arrived, they discovered the man appeared drunk and had threatened his wife. He was arrested and charged with retail theft, making terroristic threats and public drunkenness. Court records don’t indicate a hometown of the suspect, a 51-year-old man. He was jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Reading man faces trial on assault charges

A 59-year-old Reading man accused of beating a woman and locking her inside a car Oct. 20 at a West Reading gas station could face a trial on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and making terroristic threats. District Justice Timothy Dougherty held all charges for court at the man’s preliminary hearing Nov. 16. He remains jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail, according to court records.

Fast-food worker threatened at drive-through window

A customer who bought some chicken nuggets at about 9:45 p.m. Sept. 16 from the Wendy’s restaurant in the 700 block of Penn Avenue was unhappy with the sauces that came with his food. He told the woman working at the drive-through window he was going to complain to corporate headquarters but also “kick her ass,” according to the police report.

West Lawn woman faces possible trial following fight at Reading Hospital

A woman accused of acting disorderly and making threats Aug. 10 at Reading Hospital in West Reading waived her preliminary hearing on Sept. 3. She faces charges of disorderly conduct and making terroristic threats.

Her bail was reduced from $10,000 to $1,000 but she was returned to jail following her court appearance.

Ex-employee threatens manager

A man who was upset and angry over losing his job began yelling at his manager “in a threatening nature,” Wyomissing police said, about 10:11 a.m. Sept. 1 at the business in the 900 block of Berkshire Boulevard in Wyomissing. The man was one of several employees let go that morning, but the only one whose reaction got the attention of police.

Woman faces charges following disruption in hospital

A 40-year-old West Lawn resident was reportedly acting disorderly about 9:17 p.m. Aug. 10 at Reading Hospital. Police arrested the woman, who was charged with disorderly conduct and making terroristic threats. She was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Man seeks police help with ex-girlfriend problem

A man visited the West Reading Police station shortly after 11 a.m. July 7 to ask for help with a woman who keeps attacking him, then threatening to turn him in to the cops. The man, who is on probation and wants to stay out of jail, had put the woman, his ex-girlfriend, on the lease for his apartment in the 300 block of Penn Avenue in West Reading. The landlord has agreed to take the woman’s name off the lease. Officers told the man to call the next time she attacks him.

Threats lead to hospital visit

A West Reading man in the afternoon of June 14 was making threats with a knife and acting out of control in an apartment in the 500 block of Penn Avenue in the borough. Wyomissing police helped take the man to Reading Hospital for a mental evaluation.

Belligerent caller threatens Wyomissing restaurant

Wyomissing police received complaints about a man making threatening calls to the owner of a restaurant in the borough. West Reading and Wyomissing police officers spoke with the suspect June 6 in the first block of South Second Avenue in West Reading. The man was described as belligerent, uncooperative and “visibly intoxicated,” according to the police report. Officers told the man not to call or visit the restaurant again, or face arrest. The suspect replied that he didn’t care and this is America. After repeated warnings from the officer, the man said he understood.

Neighbor dispute

On May 23, a neighbor on a home on Franklin Street in Wyomissing who was apparently upset with contractors working on a house next door threatened to kill the contractors, threw a glass of water on them and cursed them out. The neighbor was taken into custody and faces charges of disorderly conduct.
